The desire for a contemporary, open plan home brought this family to venn architects. Their house in Bayside Melbourne was small and tired, but in a outstanding location near the bay.
Their new home had to accommodate teenage children, a guest wing, a four car basement garage with lift and stairs and a study big enough for their children to work together.
The resulting home is stunning and expansive. Spaces are bold and light filled. The living area is open, but differentiated ceiling heights and floor level create distinct zones. Rooms can be closed off to create intimate spaces.
The home provides the perfect backdrop to the clients’ art collection and furniture. Accent pieces give atmosphere and warmth to a minimalist backdrop. Windows frame the view to the pool and entertaining areas outside.
From the outside the house sails gloriously above the garden, with bi-fold doors blurring the boundary between inside and out.
The result is an elegant but highly functional family space where the owners relax and enjoy themselves.
